Overview

The New Business Representative is responsible for identifying and contacting potential clients.  This is not a direct sales position, but is a good opportunity to begin the climb on the Sales track ladder.

What You'll Do

Please note that the duties below can vary based on the workflow of your local office.

  • Develops complete client information and applications for new business. 
  • Uses exposure checklist to identify opportunities. 
  • Markets to insurance carriers and prepares proposals.
  • Compares coverage forms with review by Account Executive if needed.
  • Determines reasons for client rejection of policies and follows up with potential client. 
  • Secures documentation needed to be retained by the agency including signed applications, replacement cost estimates, rejection of coverage and confirmation of orders. 
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Travel is expected to be 10% in this role.

What You'll Need

  • Advanced degree from college or technical school; or 1-3 years of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Appropriate insurance licenses
  • Strong organization and communication skills
  • Tech savvy; ability to navigate multiple systems including Agency Management Software; Intermediate skills in Microsoft Office products
