Overview

Boon has an exciting career opportunity for a Proposals Manager in our Austin, TX office. The Proposals Manager supports sales opportunities by generating responses to client requests for quote and acts as a liaison between carriers and the field sales and account management teams. Then serves as key execution point between sales and product/service delivery and the hand-off to the Implementation department.

What You'll Do

  • Works with Sales and account management (AM) by developing meaningful questions to extract the necessary client information. May do additional research to determine the client’s needs, analyzes the request, submitted data, and existing benefit plan designs in order to provide meaningful benefit solutions.
  • Maintains a deep understanding of all product offerings, ROE’s, proposal processes.
  • Develops and maintains positive working relationships with our carrier contacts and MGU underwriters, brokers and vendors.
  • Works within carrier systems to create or request benefit plans. Creates proposals, which includes coordination of requests from carriers, complex computing and analysis, and detailed document preparation.
  • Collects, organizes and analyzes data, in support of new and existing business.
  • Works with Sales and insurance carrier representatives to obtain pricing in order to build benefit plans/packages that meet the client’s needs.
  • Supports clients in conjunction with the AM/Retention team and plays a critical role in developing and maintaining client relationships throughout the life-cycle of the client including preparing for and renewing products and services.
  • Acts as a liaison/consultant with the Sales and AM teams and the client in order to understand the client’s specific needs to ensure client satisfaction.
  • May attend meetings/events/seminars/tradeshows/dinners/etc as a representative of Boon, the proposal department, and to provide support to acquisition or retention sales teams.
  • Collaborates with both internal and external partners and provides the glue that keeps internal communications with the client consistent throughout. Provides pertinent information to implementation, plan build, accounting, etc.
  • Maintains Proposal templates with updates as needed and collaborates with team on continuous improvements to the tools/document.
  • Maintains electronic filing systems and recordkeeping systems.
  • Assists with copywriting, presentations, developing handouts, and other meeting and event materials.
  • Completes special projects and other duties as assigned.
  • Follow the company policies and procedures required to comply with applicable data privacy and confidentiality requirements, including but not limited to SOC controls, and HIPAA Privacy and Security regulations.
  • Escalates issues or concerns to leads and/or management.

What You'll Need

  • Bachelor’s degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience in contract/proposal management, sales or account management, or the healthcare industry.
  • Previous experience in contract/proposal management, sales or account management; healthcare industry, is preferred, or at least 1 year as an associate proposal manager.
  • Thorough knowledge of employee benefit products, i.e., medical and ancillary products
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook & PowerPoint), Adobe products, specifically need to be able to create formulas, vlookups, pivot tables, at a minimum
  • Proficiency with Salesforce preferred
  • Exceptional interpersonal, communication (both verbal and written), and client relationship skills; ability to prepare professional business correspondence, emails, and reports
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills; ability to calculate figures (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, percentages, etc.)
  • Solid time management, organizational and prioritization skills with the ability to balance multiple projects and meet deadlines; must be detail-oriented
  • Ability to work onsite at our office in Austin at least 2 days a week
  • Ability to travel on occasion.
