Overview

Boon has an exciting career opportunity for a Compliance Coordinator. The Compliance Coordinator is responsible for maintaining and improving upon corporate compliance practices to ensure that the company’s products and services meet all Federal and State compliance and data security requirements. This position coordinates with insurance carriers regarding state mandates and regulations and identifies any needed change to business policies and procedures. Additional tasks also include the handling of subrogation matters and preparing responses to inquiries from the Department of Insurance.  An individual in this position must have excellent written communication skills, critical thinking, interpersonal skills, and the ability to meet deadlines are also crucial to this position.

What You'll Do

  • Correspond with insurance carriers regarding state mandates and regulations to determine applicability and potential impact to the business and corresponding policies and procedures.
  • Receive, research, and respond to Department of Insurance and Attorney inquiries, record requests, subpoenas, and other correspondence.
  • Handle subrogation correspondence.
  • Manage the annual HIPAA training required for all company employees and maintain the certificates of completion.
  • Manage the annual vendor risk assessment process.
  • Annual review the company policies and procedures required to comply with applicable data privacy and confidentiality requirements, including but not limited to SOC controls, and HIPAA Privacy and Security regulations to ensure corporate compliance.
  • Provide administrative support to the General Counsel.
  • Perform other duties as needed to help the department.

What You'll Need

  • 2 years of previous medical insurance or employee benefits experience preferred.
  • College degree preferred or equivalent relevant experience.
  • Knowledge of health insurance administration, employee benefit plans, health and welfare terminology and concepts.
  • Knowledge of State health insurance laws and regulations.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to communicate with all levels of employees
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and Outlook), Adobe Acrobat, Smart Sheets and Trello and familiarity with database usage.
  • Health claims processing experience is a plus.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, customer service and problem-solving skills.
  • Must be detail-oriented and able to think and work independently.
  • Ability to multi-task.
